Lukasz is a Professor of Mathematics of Machine Learning at the University of Edinburgh and Programme Director of the £30m+ Finance and Economics Programme at the Alan Turing Institute, which seeks to translate research breakthroughs into practical applications. At Turing, he is leading partnerships with the National Office for Statistics, Accenture, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and HSBC. He actively engages with the finance industry and regulators both nationally, FCA, BoE/PRA, ICO, and internationally AMF, AFM, SEC and MAS.
He has a strong track record of advancing fundamental research in quantitative finance, mathematical foundations of machine learning (including generative AI, explainability, privacy, transparency, validation and verification) and reinforcement learning. He has co-authored numerous highly cited research articles on auditing AI algorithms.
