Money Laundering Regulations 2023 Published

The Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Amendment) Regulations 2023 enter into force today (10th January).

The legislation amends Regulation 35 of the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 on enhanced customer due diligence: politically exposed persons. Provisions have been inserted regarding the meaning, assessment, and treatment of domestic PEPs.

Financial services firms regulated under the MLRs should ensure that they take note of the newly enacted provisions and review their enhanced due diligence policies and procedures accordingly.
