Record-High Scam and Fraud Complaints revealed by FOS
New data released by the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) reveals that scam and fraud complaints reached their highest quarterly level between April-June 2024.
FOS data found that:
Over 50% of the 8,734 fraud and scam complaints lodged by consumers related to APP fraud;
The total number of complaints were an increase of over 2000 lodged during the same period last year; and
The 2024 increase was due to factors including multi-stage frauds and professionally-enabled fraud.
