The CPI ranks 180 countries and territories globally by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, scoring on a scale of 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).

The 2023 Index has found:

  • Over 60% of countries scored below 50 out of 100, indicating that they have ‘serious corruption problems’;
  • The global average is 43, and the majority of countries have made no progress or declined in the last decade;
  • 23 countries fell to their lowest scores to date this year; and
  • The United Kingdom is ranked 20th, with a score of 71.

Firms should review the 2023 Index to gain insights into corruption risk levels determined by Transparency International.
