UK Plans to Ban Cold Calling on All Financial Services and Products
Following the publication of its Fraud Strategy in May 2023, the government seeks to extend the pensions cold calling ban to cover cold calling for all consumer financial services and products.
The government seeks views on the design and scope of the ban alongside evidence on the impacts of the proposed ban by 27th September 2023.
HM Treasury has published an open consultation on this proposal which covers:
Details of the intended ban;
Existing restrictions on cold calling;
Scope of the proposed ban;
Legislative mechanism and exceptions;
Raising awareness;
Impacts (on business and persons with protected characteristics); and
